What are discrete semiconductors?

What are the different types of discrete semiconductors?

Bridge rectifiers are made from diodes that have been arranged in a specific order. The 'bridge' can convert inputs of alternating current into direct current. This is a basic function that most electronic devices require.

Constant Current Diodes
These semiconductors are different from others due to the way they regulate current instead of voltage. The diode keeps the current at a specific level when it reaches the limit. These are also known as current-regulating diodes (CRD) and current-limiting diodes (CLD).

Darlington Transistors
These essentially act as a two-in-one semiconductor and both act to amplify the current that passes through them. The first transistor will amplify the current to one level, then the second amplifies it further.
